Sadly these dogs are no longer with us, however this does not change how important they were or still are to us. To learn about them and our past, I hope you enjoy reading a little about them. LIM
Ch Southwinds Legg O' Lamb
May 30 1977 - April 17 1990
This webpage would not be complete without my mentioning "Leggs" and the important spot he held in our lives. He was the first whippet here at Kentruth, up until that time we shared our home with Afghan Hounds, Scottish Deerhounds, and a Yorkshire Terrier. Leggs came to spend a week with us while his owner was off at the Belgian Sheepdog National Specialty, and he never left. He had already finished his championship, so was retired from the show ring. He spent his days, laying in sunbeams, or snuggled in his chair in the bedroom or going for rides in the car. At night he took his place in the bed, and I must say I slept soundly knowing Leggs was watching over our household. Like all good things in life our time with Leggs was too short, however his lasting gift to us was an appreciation of all things 'whippet'. Until we meet again, "Leggings". LIM

Ch Surrey Hill's Rocket To Russia
Rush came to us at Kentruth, as a yearling, already pointed and a supported entry sweepstakes winner. We felt honored that Karen B. Lee and her mother, Carolyn J. Bowers of Surrey Hill Whippets let Rush come to our home. His sweet disposition made him a wonderful breed ambassador, and he was a joy to live with. Though he was never bred down from, we feel his greatest contribution to our lives, is the friendship that has grown with Karen and her ever charming mother, Carolyn. RIP Rush-Man. LIM

(nr.ch) Surrey Hill's China Beach
I'm not sure if I fell in love with China or the thought of her first. I had admired her sire, Drake, so much that when I found out Karen's copper-penny red girl Carmen was in whelp to Drake I knew I had to have a puppy.
China never cared a whit for the show ring, she felt her purpose in life was to keep our property cleared of vermin and sadly low-flying birds. Despite or in spite of our differing opinions on her vocation, China managed to retire from the show-ring with 13pts with both of her majors, one of which was won by winning a Best of Breed from the classes over Top 10 competition.
China was never bred. However she was invaluable when it came to teaching manners to puppies and young dogs. Good-bye China. LIM DC Surrey Hill's Pep Talk CR OTR TRP DPC
"Pungo"
Though he never lived with us here at Kentruth, Pungo has had a profound effect on our lives, tragically he was taken away from us much too soon.
From the very first time I admired Pungo in the show ring, I somehow knew he would be part of my life. Little did I realize then just how much he would effect it. His wonderful balanced and smooth outline combined with his powerful gait gave me chills, and his soulful eyes and sweet temperment sealed the deal for me. When it came time to look for the right boy for Lydia, Pungo immediately came to mind as the 'one'. The combination worked and gave me two lovely girls, Uma and Barra and my sweet boy Nomad.
I'm proud to say I was there when he had his last go round at the 2007 Eastern Specialty, seeing him in the ring brought tears to my eyes, and joy to my heart. I'm happy to have a part of him here at Kentruth. LIM
